Sinopsis | Synopsis
¿Cuánto pesa la distancia entre una madre y una hija? Podría decirse que esa distancia impulsa una carta. Una joven estudiante cumple años en Argentina y filma para su madre en España. Junto al cine encuentra un espacio para sorprenderse y jugar de nuevo, donde un limón puede ser la Tierra entera o la distancia justa entre dos cuerpos al bailar.
How much does the distance between a mother and a daughter weigh? Perhaps that distance is what sets a letter in motion. A young student celebrates her birthday in Argentina and makes a film for her mother in Spain. Through cinema, she finds a space to be surprised, to play again, where a lemon can become the whole Earth or the exact distance between two bodies as they dance.

Desde que llegué a Buenos Aires, dije cientos de veces que escribiría una carta a mano, con su sello y todo. Pienso en las personas a quienes se la enviaría e imagino lo que les diría. Luego visualizo la sorpresa en sus rostros al abrir el buzón y encontrar una carta desde Argentina. Pero nunca llego a hacerlo.
En mayo de 2023, hacer una correspondencia audiovisual se volvió una consigna obligatoria en clase de dirección (gracias Ulises y Hernán) y a partir de entonces no hubo escapatoria. Si alguien merecía ese reto, era mi madre. Ese mismo mayo coincidió con:
–La llegada de un escáner a casa con el plan de digitalizar un archivo familiar.
–La primera vez que fui a ver flamenco fuera de casa.
–La celebración de mi cumpleaños y una casa llena de limones.
–Un corte de pelo radical. Corto como nunca antes, corto como lo tenías cuando yo nací.
Ever since I arrived in Buenos Aires, I have said hundreds of times that I would write a handwritten letter, complete with a stamp and everything. I think about the people I would send it to and imagine what I would tell them. Then I picture the surprise on their faces when they open the mailbox and find a letter from Argentina. But I never actually get around to doing it.
In May 2023, making an audiovisual correspondence became a mandatory assignment in my directing class (thank you, Ulises and Hernán), and from then on, there was no escaping it. If anyone deserved this challenge, it was my mother.
That same May happened to coincide with:
– The arrival of a scanner at home, with the plan of digitizing a family archive.
– The first time I went to see flamenco outside of home.
– My birthday celebration and a house full of lemons.
– A radical haircut. Shorter than ever before, as short as you wore it when I was born.
